Background

Brampton had enacted speed enforcement cameras and the Province was looking to make them illegal.  Brampton Council is to show that they are effective.

Item Description

1. That the report from Michael Kralt, Director, Automated Enforcement & Court Administration, to the Committee of Council Meeting of September 10, 2025, re: Automated Speed Enforcement - Traffic Safety Update, be received;
2. That a copy of this report and presentation be sent to the Minister of Transportation, Prabmeet Sarkaria and the Premier of Ontario; all Brampton area MPPs; and the Regional and Provincial Medical Officers of Health;
3. That staff be directed to communicate with the Insurance Bureau of Canada (Ontario) to highlight the positive program results, and to advocate against ‘postal code discrimination’ with respect to Brampton insurance policies; and
4. That a communication strategy be developed to inform Brampton residents of the positive program outcomes
